Swimming pool "Alsterschwimmhalle" | Hamburg, Germany
On the outside, it is reminiscent of the Sydney Opera House; on the inside, the building houses Hamburg's largest public indoor swimming pool. The "Alsterschwimmhalle" is considered a highlight of architectural design and is one of the world's largest shell structures of its kind thanks to its striking double-curved roof construction.
Planned in the 1960s, the indoor swimming pool was inaugurated in January 1973. Extensive renovation work was carried out on the listed building between October 2020 and November 2023. In this context, the water area was expanded to 2,000 square meters and the fitness and sauna areas were significantly enlarged. Half of the entire indoor area was rebuilt.

The architects from gmp Architekten von Gerkan, Marg und Partner and the engineers from schlaich bergermann partner were commissioned with the refurbishment of the "Alsterschwimmhalle". For us, it was a very special and unique project, which is characterised by its individuality and technical modernity in addition to its architectural uniqueness.
The hand wash and shower solutions from KWC Professional complement the unique character. Easy-to-operate, touch-free electronic taps from the F5 range, visually minimalist shower heads and, in the sauna area, waterfall showers and customized VARIUS washbasins were installed.

The taps were integrated into the AQUA 3000 open water management system and connected to the existing building management system in close collaboration with the engineers of ENERATIO PartGmbB, taking into account the aspects of efficiency, sustainability and hygiene.
